Eyes half closed
I had a go at running a Linux flavour of Wink 1.5 on my Ubuntu 6.10 computer. Installed and ran OK. Wink is free software or freeware, not FOSS. Free as in free beer, not free speech. I have had some fun using the Windows version of this softwaer to make animated help pages for GameMaker and OpenOffice tutorials in Moodle. Yhis version is a nearly workable tool to create SWF Flash files for presentations or tutorials although their forums reported some minor unfixed bugs.
Wasnt too hard to install
following these instructions although more work than just kicking off an automatic install with Synaptic or clicking on a DEB and RPM package as could have been done. I am still unsure why there is a holdup in the Wink 2.0 Linux beta. For perhaps too many months the WIki forums indicate a buzz of interest and offers for testing by Linux desktop users.
Rather like walking outside with your eyes half closed.
