Space for Smoke
Even though it is raining outside, the humidity has skyrocketed. I am not used to this hot and sticky weather.
David from PAA pointed out a some very clear satellite images of the current
Victorian bushfires by the Earth Observation operated by NASA. It is strange to see all this smoke trail all the way across to the Tasmanian island at the start of this ear.
The
current CFA fire crew list shows the number of fire crews at each fire incident. The biggest one is the
Grest Divide Complex South or fire in the Victorian Alps that you can see in this image. Here are some incident maps.
We have to watch the local weather conditions really closely as a wind direction change can quickly alter the shape and size of a bush fire. This is elaborated on and nicely illustrated with the pictures in this CFA chapter.
Today is another day of total fire ban. This sign by the CFA was located by the side of Ferntree Gully Road. It warns drivers of the total fie ban and to to prepare their fire plans. Our local
community fireguard group is ready. When I finish my housework, I might take and post some picture of our domestic firefighting kit.
